Long Island Summer Bowling Tour!

Jenn Pax A Punch!

No Place Like Home for Bandrowski!

Westhampton NY, July 26, 2002

Jennifer Paxson, Patchogue, won her first ever a2Z event this past friday at Westhampton Bowl. Paxson, finished out the 4-game qualifier with a strong 224 scratch that pushed her to the top spot in the Adult Handicap Division and then took advantage of an untimely mistake made by joshua martorelli, lake ronkonkoma in the finals. martorelli wasted no time and defeated april mccoy, southampton in the semi-final match 223-152. Martorelli looked to be in control of the championship match until he missed the spare attempt on a solid 10 pin on the first ball in the 10th frame. Paxson converted a 5-pin in the 10th and just needed count on her last ball and went on to defeat martorelli 179-174.

in the junior scratch division, Kevin bandrowski, speonk, won for the second time this year on the a2Z and once again accomplished the victory at westhampton. Bandrowski, in his home house, simply overpowered his opponents in the semi finals and finals. in the semi final, bandrowski easily defeated amanda beck, oakdale 257-183. Then, bandrowski finished off the evening with a stunning 267-167 victory over jenn marmo, north babylon. marmo had qualified first for the evening with a 233.75 4-game qualifier.

peter smith, brentwood was seeking his 3rd straight junior handicap division title on the a2Z tour. however, this night would belong to matt kelly, bayshore. smith, spearheading a 277 scratch in the 4th game in qualifying came up a little short in the semi finals as ed barton, east moriches defeated smith 220-206. kelly, qualifying first, took care of barton in the final game 245-218.

paul molnar, commack, lead the field of bowlers in the adult scratch division with a 919. molnar finished 34 pins ahead of stacey bokina, peconic, 885 and 52 pins ahead of george mottern, riverhead 867. in the semi-final game, bokina rolled a very impressive 232. and it is a good thing bokina rolled the 232...because she only lost the match by 26! Mottern rolled a 258. in the championship game, molnar and mottern put on quite a show. matching strike for strike and spare for spare. however, mottern threw the extra double and was in control of the match late in the game. however, in the 8th frame, mottern, throwing perhaps his worst shot of the night, left the 1,2,8 and 10 washout. an open frame in the 8th would have put molnar in the driver seat. however, cool as can be, mottern covered the spare and kept control of the match. mottern, finishing first in the 10th, doubled, to put the match away for good, 245-222.

Keglers Korner...........

Once again a great turnout at Westhampton! Just a marvelous atmosphere to be in. A2Z has one more visit on August 23 at the center..... Tour now heads to Port Jeff. It has seemed light years since we have been there. However, with the July 5th tournament moved to August 30, Port Jeff will host 2 of the remaining 5 stops..... Heard the "locals" are anxiously waiting..... Hard to believe with all the talent that the junior bowlers bring to the table that the 300 game incentive has yet to be hit. The fund now stands at $272.00 PLUS entries for next week. That kind of money pays for at LEAST a 12 pack of pens and pencils!..... LET the baseball players strike....FOOTBALL is here! :o)..... and finally..... Ever see WWE wretler "THE ROCK"? Well, just take a look next time at junior bowler CLIFF COLLAZO of Bayshore. Ask him to don the shades and raise the eyebrow. A clone. An EXACT clone. Unreal and too funny..... Until next time.....

Poppa Z!
