Port Jefferson, NY - August 2, 2002

Stacey Bokina, Speonk, won the adult scratch division this past friday at port jeff bowl. bokina, steadily climbed the ladder in the qualifying round to earn the number one seed and the bye in the semifinal round. the talented young lady shot a 728 back 3, highlighted by a 276 in game 2. in the championship game vs billy de cicco, brookhaven, bokina continued her hot hand and won going away, 244-214.

for bokina, winning never seems to get old. she enjoyed a stellar bowling career at morehead state university, kentucky (Graduated this past May). she is a 2-time member of the national championship morehead state team. In addition, this past april, in buffalo, NY, she was named MVP of The 2002 Intercollegiate Bowling Championships for the womens division, leading the lady eages to the title.  perhaps though, the one single thing that you notice when bokina is on the lanes, is simply the respect she pays to the game and to her competitors. quiet, confident and in control at all times.

4 touraments to go! One visit each for East Islip, Sayville, Westhampton and Port Jeff!..... Great turnout this past week at Port Jeff despite the very bad weather. Bowlers are DEDICATED..... 300 game funds are GROWING, GROWING, GROWING..... Junior Bowlers who are in attendance at an A2Z event should take advantage and spend some time prior to the tournament with some of the collegiate bowlers past and present, who participate in the A2Z tournaments. These young ladies and men can shed some light on what to expect on a local and national level. Collegiate Bowling is a very popular sport during these times. Bowlers travel all across the United States and in some instances, overseas. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. These bowlers will also tell you about the importance of good grades and effort in High School. A2Z encourages the younger bowlers to spend some time with the collegiate athletes..... The A2Z all-time Highs will be updated after the East Islip Tournament. Can you take a guess why?..... Until next time.....
