A record 200 bowlers participated in the season opener for the A2Z / Long island summer bowling tour 2005. junior bowler vito genova, franklin square earned his third major Title on the a2Z tour as he outlasted his opponents in a magnificent display of bowling by the junior scratch division bowlers. ryan friend, staten island, doug feldman, copiague and chris kieser, northport all gave genova a ton to handle during the process. feldman in fact, is the 2005 new years day major event champion. 

Genova previously had won major titles on the a2Z tour by winning the New Years Day event in 2004 and then, a few months later, he won the july 4th kickoff event. both events were held at Babylon lanes. genova is now only one win away from winning the "Grand Slam" of major events on the a2Z tour. Genova needs the Labor day Weekend Kickoff title to make it all happen.

justin drago, west babylon took home top honors in the junior handicap division. drago outgunned michael gallo, bohemia, matt dobbins, yaphank, sean pantino, port jeff and meghan stephens, east patchogue en route to the title.

many junior bowlers were simply magnificent this past sunday night as the scores posted will indicate. please take the time to marvel at the results from "the kids". incredible results by incredible junior bowlers! all of them deserve to take a bow.

alex cavagnaro, north massapequa put on quite a show himself competing in the adult scratch division. however, cavagnaro did things the hard way. the smooth throwing talented bowler needed OT to defeat ricky papandrea jr, east islip in the shotgun round in order to advance to the finals. jay marine, selden did all he could do by rolling a 235 in the shotgun round, yet, marine found himself finishing 4th as cavagnaro and papandrea jr tied at 237. an open in the 9th/10th frame by papandrea made life a lot less difficult for cavagnaro to advance. in the final match vs nicholas kallner, jamaica, the championship once again would be decided in the 10th frame as both cavagnaro and kallner were splendid during the first 9 frames. each however not being able to put the other away. misfortune however hit kallner as he picked the 8 off the 4 in frame 10 opening the door for cavagnaro. cavagnaro covered in the 10th and the rest they say...is history. great job by all the competitors of the adult scratch division.

rob wellons, lindenhurst had a very memorable first ever adult tournament as he won the adult handicap division by defeating a very tough and talented justin jaret also of lindenhurst.

jaret barely escaped the shotgun round as he defeated adam krauss, coram and steve fook, arlington, va. in the championship game vs wellons, jaret and wellons both took turns giving the other an opportunity to win outright with some mid frame opens. it wasnt until late in the match however was wellons able to pull away from jaret that would earn him a major title. jaret, ever so gracious in defeat simply had nothing but praise for wellons as the tournament concluded and was officially put into the books.

all four major event champions, genova, drago, cavagnaro and wellons each took home "A2Z Champion" t-shirts and in addition, they each took home the beautiful pin trophy created exclusively for A2Z bowling by A2Z Bowler and competitor Frank Kase, deer Park. we hope to have photos added to this website in the near future.
